WHAT ARE WE BUILDING TOGETHER?
A relaxed conversation for Ballaarat and District Greens members
So much of politics is spent responding to the latest crisis. This is a chance to slow down, listen to one another and talk about what we actually want to create.
This will be the first in a series of relaxed conversations about our branch, our values and the future we want to build together.
We’ll begin with some practical questions:
• What are Greens values and what do we want our branch to live by?
• What simple agreements would help everyone feel welcome and able to take part?
• How can we listen well and make decisions without the loudest voices setting the direction through consensus models.
Over time, we can explore the bigger questions too. What does a good life look like when everyone has enough? How can we live within planetary limits and care for future generations? What might come after an economy driven by endless growth, extraction and profit? How do we build a society where difference is valued and nobody is left behind?
This won’t be a lecture, debate or formal meeting. You don’t need to know the policies, read anything beforehand or arrive with answers. Although, it is great to check them out.
We’ll use small-group conversation and listen to understand principles, with space to speak, reflect or simply listen. The aim is to understand one another better and leave with a clearer sense of what we are working towards.
Whether you have been involved for years or have only recently joined, you are very welcome.
